A SPRINKLING of snow was the perfect addition to an evening of festive fun in Cheddar.

Thousands of people bustled through the village’s streets on Friday to browse the shops, listen to traditional Christmas songs and munch on a mince pie or two.

Caroline Craddock, who helped to co-ordinate the event, said the night was a great success.

“There was even a few flakes of snow which is a first for Cheddar Festive Night,” she added.

The evening went without a hitch but the BBC Somerset bus could not make it this year due to the weather.

Entertainment included escapology by Jez Starr, Christmas story-telling, carol-singing and Cheddar Firefighter’s Santa float was paraded through the village.

George and Enid Greenow, owners of Cheddar Valley Press, won the best festive illuminations in Cliff Street – the third time they have been awarded this title.
