OVERNIGHT snow across North Somerset has thrown school plans into disarray once again, resulting in several closures.

Others plan to open late or close early, with most before and after school clubs and sessions cancelled.

After light sleet hit Weston at about 5pm a further three inches of snow fell overnight.

Some areas received a limited amount and as a consequence there are no blanket closures of all North Somerset schools.

The decision to open or close has been made by individual headteachers, with regard to local conditions.

The latest school details are (please note this list will be updated through the day):

Secondary schools that are open: Backwell (closing at 3pm), Broadoak, Churchill, Gordano, Priory (from 9.45am), St Katherine’s, Worle (from 10am), Wyvern (from 10am).

Secondary schools that are closed: Clevedon (open for exams only), Nailsea (open for exams only).

Primary schools that are open: Windwhistle, Wraxall (from 10.30am), St Martin’s, Hutton, Backwell, St Georges, Court de Wyck, Hannah More, Locking, St Andrew’s, Worlebury St Paul’s (aiming for 10am), Churchill, Grove, St Mark’s, West Leigh, Blagdon (parents asked to help clear pathways), Yatton (infants and juniors), St Mary’s (pedestrian access only), Northleaze, St Peter’s (from 9.30am), Castle Batch, Corpus Christi, St Katherine’s, Portishead, Flax Bourton, St Anne’s, Tickenham, heron’s Moor, Christ Church, Milton Park Primary (from 10am), St Francis, St Joseph’s, Kingshill (from 10am – though playground is closed), Golden Valley (early finish likely).

Primary schools that are closed: High Down (infants and juniors), Dundry.

Special schools that are open: Baytree.

Special schools that are closed: Ravenswood, Westhaven.

Children’s centres that are open: Central Weston, Crockerne, Clevedon, South Weston, Ashcombe, Milton and Old Worle.

Children’s centres that are closed: Portishead.

North Somerset’s home tuition service has been cancelled for today.
