s A SOMERSET group handed over £3,000 to its chosen charities on Sunday.

Cheddar Vale Lions Club raised £2,000 for Children’s Hospice South West by holding a rubber duck race in the village.

Weston Hospicecare and the Jessie May Trust each received a cheque for £500, raised from an Easter egg raffle.

Brian Airey, club president, said: “It is important for us to support these local charities and the work they do for the terminally ill in the area – most of us know someone who has benefited from the work they do.”
