She said: “I found out via Facebook.

“My friend had put something on Facebook to say two friends of hers were on the list, and I wondered if I knew anybody.

“And there I was. I couldn’t have been more surprised.”

Ann stepped down from Springboard last year but remains involved with its projects.

A Springboard spokesman said: “Everyone at Springboard is proud Ann’s dedication and work over the past 30 years has been recognised by this award.

“Her involvement continues with the charity as honorary president.”
