A WESTON man battled the streets and rivers of London in the Virgin-Active triathlon to raise money for a children’s charity.

Steve Thomas, aged 39, swam 1,500 metres in the River Thames and then took on a 40km bike ride in very wet weather.

He finished the triathlon by running 10km around the streets of London and completed the challenge in an impressive 3 hours and 22 minutes.

With the help of his colleagues at Roadchef’s Sedgemoor services in Rooksbridge, friends and family, Steve, of Ashcombe Road, has raised £2,000 for NSPCC.

Following the event Steve said: “What a great experience it was. The hardest part was jumping into the freezing cold River Thames, but I’m thrilled to have finished in such a great time and to have raised such a fantastic amount for the NSPCC.

“I would really like to say thank you to everyone who has supported me.”
