THREE baby stoats at Secret World became instant animal stars when they featured on the BBC’s Springwatch Unsprung show.

Two were first found sitting on a bank, shivering with cold when John Herring heard a scratching noise coming from behind his woodshed at the Trinity Waters Fishery at Chilton Trinity, near Bridgwater.

And although baby stoats are rare orphans at the wildlife rescue centre in East Huntspill, a third was brought in the following day from Stogumber.

Animal carer Judith Sutton, who appeared with them on the show, said the stoats were quite fierce creatures with very sharp teeth so no attempt had been made to find out if they were male or female.

The young stoats are just a few of those that have been saved from recent weather related incidents and the centre is calling for more donations to support its Call of the Wild Appeal, to build a £4.5 million wildlife hospital and education centre.
