A WESTON group has donated £500 towards helping a talented 16-year-old.

Swimmer Lucy Titchin was presented with the money from the town's rotary club to help her on her mission to become a top class sports woman.

She started swimming at the age of five and was a member of Weston Swimming Club at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, where she progressed to go on to train with Bath University for two years.

Lucy won a place at specialist sporting centre Millfield School, where she currently trains in the gym, swims 50km a week and enters competitions most weekends.

Winning her first national medal in 2007, Lucy has represented Great Britain at the Junior Championships in Prague this year and in October she achieved a personal best while captaining the Somerset team at the National County Team Championships.

Rotary club resident Bernard Land presented Lucy with a cheque to help her with her travel and kit expenses.
