A family have donated more than £1,700 to Weston Hospicecare in memory of their late father.

Theresa Body and her family, from Weare, has hosted a number of socials, barbecues and charity events to raise the money for the Weston charity which supported them in their time of need.

Theresa’s father John Pound was diagnosed with secondary liver cancer in July last year.

Theresa said: “On August 17, we were told they could not do anything and he had days, maybe weeks left and he died two days later.

“Weston Hospicecare were the only ones that really helped us as a family.”

Theresa and her mum Kate presented the cheque for £1,772 to Wendy Stephens from Weston Hospicecare, who is a close friend of Theresa’s and looked after her father.

Theresa said: “I had no idea she was my dad’s nurse and it brought me a lot of comfort when I saw her that day.”
