A grant scheme hoping to improve female participation in sport has been made available in North Somerset.

The This Girl Can project, which is working with North Somerset Council, has helped millions of people become more active and is now offering grants of up to £250.

Projects targeted at women and girls aged 14-60 who have never regularly taken part in physical activity are eligible to apply for funding.

A council spokesman said: “The funding can contribute towards such things as facility hire, equipment, coach costs, training and volunteer expenses.

“This Girl Can is a Sport England initiative created in 2015 and has supported over 2.8 million women to become more active.”

To apply for a grant visit www.go4lifens.wordpress.com/this-girl-can/ or for more information contact the council’s sport and active lifestyles co-ordinator, David Page, on 01275 882734.
