Sky Sports will be broadcasting from the Oaktree Arena for the fourth time in a row next week.

SKY Sports will be broadcasting live coverage of a speedway match with the Somerset Rebels to millions from the Oaktree Arena near Highbridge.

Ticket prices have been slashed as club bosses try to pull the biggest crowd possible for the fixture between Somerset and Ipswich.

This is the fourth year in a row the television company will feature the Rebels in a broadcast beamed live to millions of sports fans around the country.

Promoter of the Somerset Rebels Debbie Hancock said: “We are in the premiership and as Sky Sports only visits a couple of premiership clubs a year, this proves we are rated one of the best tracks in the country. It’s such a big thing and we are really proud.

“We have slashed the prices to try to get a bigger crowd and allow people, who have not been before, to have the chance to attend.”

The ticket prices for the match on Tuesday have been cut down to £10 per adult and £1 per child.

Debbie said: “We want to make this a big family event and give it a better atmosphere, and you can’t beat seeing anything live.”

Debbie also said having Sky Sports visit for the fourth successive year means a big boost for the area, as more people travel to the arena in Bristol Road, Edithmead.

She said: “Last year the camera crew went on top of the knoll, in Brent Knoll, and viewed all across the levels. This match is televised worldwide and it certainly does not harm tourism in the area, and we have to rely on it.

“This is the third biggest watched sport in the county and hopefully it will get bigger and bigger.”

The fixture will see the in-form Rebels try to add to their fine recent run of eight consecutive top flight wins.

Gates will open at 5.30pm and the racing will get under way at 7.30pm.
