Town centre assault leaves man with ‘serious head injuries’

A man suffered serious head injuries in an alleged assault in Weston-super-Mare this morning (Tuesday).

Police were called to reports of a disturbance in Baker Street, near to the junction with Milton Road, at around 7am and found two men involved in what they described as an ‘altercation’.

One of the men was taken to hospital with serious wounds to his head, and the other arrested on suspicion of assault.

The area is currently cordoned off, with crime scene investigators set to examine the scene later this morning.

Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to contact 101, quoting call card reference 0145 of May 31.
