TEAMS of volunteers competed in challenges to raise more than £1,300 for Weston Hospicecare.

The charity held its first Operation Hospice Heroes event on July 19 and groups of four took part in go-kart races, air rifle shooting, treasure hunts and building a get-away cart.

Angus Lewis, who was part of the winning team, The Garden and Leisure Group, said: “It was an absolutely amazing day out, well organised and action-packed. The hospice is such a great cause which we are proud to support.”

Sarah Livermore, corporate fundraiser, said: “The money raised is enough to pay for our children’s bereavement services for two whole weeks which is a brilliant achievement.”
