MORE than 30 children from four primary schools enjoyed a day out at Longleat Safari Park courtesy of Weston Rotary Club.

Kids Out is an annual Rotary event offering schoolchildren the chance to go on a free trip.

Children from Ashcombe, Bournville, Oldmixon and Christ Church primary schools were selected by their teachers to go on the trip.

Pupils are selected either because they come from a disadvantaged background or for an outstanding achievement at school.

The day started with a full English breakfast provided by BHS in the High Street, whose store manager Ash Maggs said: “We’ve supported Kids Out for many years and we’re delighted to do so again as it’s such a worthwhile event.”

The children and their teachers travelled by Bakers Dolphin coach to Longleat where they joined some 900 other children from other similar outings from the Rotary District of Somerset, West Dorset and West Wiltshire.

They toured the safari park where they saw the lions, giraffes and other animals.

The sun shone as they travelled by boat and saw sealions swimming alongside, which caused a lot of excitement.

Rotary Club volunteers then took the 32 children on a train ride through the park.
