Weston’s annual food festival has been hailed as ‘one of the best’ by its organisers as thousands of visitors flocked to the town for the event.

For years there have been calls for high street fashion giants Primark to open for business in Weston, but shopaholics here still have to traipse up to Bristol or run the M5 gauntlet to Taunton to get their hands on the latest trends.

Cheddar Ales introduced its newest beer and celebrated turning 10 at a festival on Saturday.

Can you believe it? It is the last day of voting and only days until the Weston super food festival returns for another year. It is nearly time for the Mercury and an expert panel to make the final decision on the Weston food awards but we still need your help. Today we need your votes for best newcomer. This is a food business which has been open since September 2015 or later. Happy voting and thank you to everyone for voting so far. We couldn’t do it without you and look forward to seeing you at the food festival at the Tropicana on September 17 and 18.

There will be a host of local produce you can try, as well as a number of activities - and of course the food awards. So, today (Saturday) we need your help to decide which food business deserves the crown of best independent food business.
