ILLEGAL drugs were seized and two men arrested following an operation by neighbourhood police in Weston yesterday (Thursday).
Officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in Alma Street, finding a quantity of cannabis, what is believed to be heroin, and property from a recent shop theft. They arrested two men aged 43 and 55 and a third suspect is still being sought.
The operation was carried out in response to concerns raised by the local community, who had highlighted problems with drug dealing and resultant anti-social behaviour in the area.
Neighbourhood inspector Sharon Bennett said: “My message to anyone who deals drugs is - you could be next. We have carried out patrols of the area, reassuring local residents who are pleased with the positive action we’ve taken.
“We are now working closely with the local authority and landlord to evict the tenants. The premises have been boarded up, sending out a clear message to the community we won’t tolerate drugs in Weston.”
Anyone with concerns regarding drugs in their community can contact police on 101.
