Two TV licence evaders caught every day in Weston

TWO people are caught every day in Weston for not paying their television licence, according to new figures.
More than 610 residents were found to be avoiding getting their license fee in the first 10 months of this year in the town.
The figure compares to 300 in Bath, 230 in Taunton and 180 in Yeovil.
In response, TV Licensing has criticised the fee evaders and has revealed the ‘crazy’ excuses for people not paying.
Spokesman Warren Carr said: “No matter how creative people get with their excuses, watching or recording live TV without a licence is against the law.
“In fairness to those who pay the fee, we will prosecute those who try to avoid it, including the likes of a gentleman who refused to buy a licence unless we bartered with him.
“We’re effective at catching evaders, but we would always rather people pay than risk a fine of up to £1,000.”
Mr Carr said that people struggling to pay the fee should spread the cost over the year.
