Hutton Moor Leisure Centre will unveil its £2.15million expansion on Monday, and it features a new 155-station gym, new studios and the latest fitness equipment.

A two-storey extension has been created at the back of the building so the centre’s gym could be expanded from 96 stations to 155 to meet increasing demand.

The new-look centre also has two new multi-use studios which will be used for high intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts, dance classes, fitness sessions and more.

The extension is home to the latest Queenax functional training system – which sees people exercise while using a suspended body weight system and will offer classes such as anti-gravity yoga, circuits and boxing.

One of the squash courts has been converted into a spinning studio with 26 bikes for cycle workout classes, while one squash court remains.

The former bar area at the front of the building, above the sports hall, has now been converted into a dance studio, which has already opened.

Work is continuing to the centre’s free weight gym, which will become another multi-use studio.

The centre is run by Legacy Leisure and is visited 600,000 times a year and has more than 3,000 members, but this expansion means it can cater for an extra 800 members.

The extension has taken six months to build and the expansion also includes three new floodlit all-weather pitches and two floodlit tennis courts which have been fitted using environmentally-friendly cork.

The new-look centre will officially open on Monday, but people can get a preview of its new equipment on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm at the centre’s showcase event. For more information call 01934 425900.
