MORE than £1,700 was raised at a village fete at the weekend to help with repairs to a popular church.
East Brent village fete saw blazing sunshine and hundreds attend the annual event, which raised at least £500 more than last year, which will go towards the village’s Church of St Mary.
MP James Heappey opened the proceedings at 1.30pm on Saturday, and the Lisa James School of Dance also performed.
Organiser Kathy Quinnell told the Mercury: “We were mesmerised by their performance on what was a great day all round, with welly-wanging and stalls.
“Thanks to everybody for their support.”
