A PIECE of land, which a developer wants to build 85 homes on, could be classed as a village green following an application to protect it.

North Somerset Council has received paperwork from Claverham residents who are concerned by Gladman Development Limited’s proposed housing estate off Chestnut Drive.

In the application, villagers say the land has been used by walkers for more than 40 years and deserves to remain public.

Concerns for nearby heritage listed buildings, concerns over protecting rare wildlife and agriculture all form part of the village green application.
