SOME of England’s top volleyball players will be competing on Weston’s beach this weekend.

The Volleyball England Beach Volleyball Tournament (VEBT) will take place tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, with the first matches getting underway at 9am.

Entry to the grandstand is free on both days.

A spokesman said: “Beach volleyball was one of the most popular sports at the London 2012 Olympics, being watched by millions of people around the world.

“The Volleyball England Beach Tour is the country’s premier event for the nation’s top beach volleyball players.

“Staged at some of the best beach volleyball locations around the country, the VEBT attracts the best players England has to offer, including Team GB Olympians and other international athletes.”

There will be 24 pairs competing in total, and there will be a separate junior competition on Sunday.

The matches are expected to finish at around 7pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday.

The tournament has already visited Skegness and Great Yarmouth.
