A parish council thanked helpers from voluntary groups at a garden party last weekend.

Dozens of organisers and helpers from voluntary clubs and societies across Cheddar enjoyed a garden party hosted by the village’s parish council.

More than 50 community groups were invited to the party, which was held at Hannah More Cottage in Lower North Street.

The occasion gave guests the opportunity to talk to parish councillors about their organisations.

Councillors served up refreshments and entertainment was provided by local singers Cathy Judge and Johnny Francis.

Council chairman Peter Colton said: “The garden at the cottage, which was transformed by the My Cheddar group two years ago, was a lovely setting on a glorious summer’s day for this occasion.”
