Hundreds of people lined the streets of Weston’s Bournville estate as it hosted its second Catch The Light lantern parade.

After the success of last year’s inaugural parade, Our Neighbourhood community project, run by Alliance Homes, teamed up with the For All Healthy Living Centre, in Lonsdale Avenue, to stage the family event.

A jungle theme was this year’s chosen subject, and regular workshops were held at the living centre as lions, crocodiles, elephants and exotic fish were among the illuminated creations.

Free activities included a craft corner, flamenco and street dancing, a drumming workshop from Bristol Samba Band and an appearance by local singer Chrystal Bliss.

Helen Wheelock, from Our Neighbourhood, said: “It was such an inspiring night, which was only possible because so many people volunteered their time and energy over the past 12 months to make it happen.”
