Weston’s air cadets will hold a recruitment evening to inspire others to join the team.

The Weston squadron of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets is open to anyone in school year eight, aged 12-13, up to people aged 17.

Those enrolled take part in a huge range of activities, including taking to the skies with flying and gliding lessons.

The cadets also enjoy camps, take part in activities to achieve a Duke of Edinburgh Award, and learn about first aid and leadership.

They take part in the Remembrance Day parade every year, and do demonstrations during the air festival and armed forces weekend during the summer.

The recruitment evening will take place next week on March 15 at 7.45pm, at the headquarters in Shipham Close.

For more information about the group, contact Chris Garrett by emailing or alternatively search for the 290 Squadron Air Training Corps on Facebook.
