The Weston-super-Mare Association of Malayalees celebrated a Hindu festival with food and dance.

The association (WAM) celebrated Onam, the biggest and most important festival of the Kerala state in India.

The harvest festival is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is believed to visit the Kerala each year during Oman.

More than 250 people joined the celebration of the festival at Kewstoke Village Hall, in Crookes Lane.

Visitors were treated to a full programme of cultural delights including live music, dancing and singing.

The WAM is a cultural organisation of people from Kerala who migrated to Weston.

It has worked in the town for the past 12 years holding charity events and activities with the objective of improving the conditions and quality of life for the community members, as well as share their heritage with the town.
