The North Somerset branch of the RSPCA hosted its busiest ever dog show at the weekend, with more than 100 animals taking part in the classes.
The charity held the show at Weston-super-Mare’s Beach Lawns on Sunday, where dogs of all shapes and sizes took part in obedience and handling tests in the ring.
In total, 149 dogs competed in the classes, with more than 300 entries in total.
The most popular category was ‘the dog the judge would most like to take home’ where there were more than 80 entries.
Organiser Rita Hinton said: “It was an amazing day.
“We think we have raised around £2,000, which is a fantastic total.
“What people don’t realise is the branch funds itself and this was a lovely way to raise the money.”
Ashley and Emma Amos’ Jack Russell terrier Bertie won best in show, and was also chosen as the happiest rescue dog and the dog the judges would most like to take home.
Because of the interest this year, the ring will be made even bigger in 2018 so it can be used for more entries.
