A Weston-super-Mare woman is £30,000 richer this week after winning the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Jennie Young, aged 51, was given the surprise of a lifetime on Saturday when Danyl Johnson knocked on her door armed with a golden envelope.

Jennie, who lives in Dovetail Drive, was the sole winner of the lottery’s Street Prize after her postcode was drawn out of the hat, and she plans to treat her daughter to a trip abroad with the winnings.

She said: “This feels fantastic. Once I’ve finished celebrating I’m going to book a three-week holiday in Tenerife as a treat for my daughter who has been studying hard for her GCSEs.”

The People’s Postcode Lottery works by selling tickets to players before randomly drawing out one of the entrants’ postcodes. It costs £10 per month and raises money for charity.

Former X Factor contestant Johnson said: “I had a brilliant time in Weston presenting Jennie with her well-deserved win.

“I’m thrilled for her and hope she has a fabulous time spending it.”
