It is a bank holiday weekend so crack out your barbecue and enjoy the three-day weekend. Here is a list of events taking place around the area:
Murder mystery – Weston-super-Mare
The Grand Pier, in Marine Parade, will host this spook-tacular today (Friday). Murder On The Pier: A Wedding To Die For will start at 7pm and will include a welcome drink and a three-course meal. Tickets, priced £34.50, are available from www.grandpier.co.uk
Weston Museum grand re-opening – Weston
––The long-awaited re-opening will take place this Saturday following a two-year £1.6million refurbishment. The new-look museum, in Burlington Street, will be celebrating with a free Victorian family fun day. The event will run from 10am- 3pm and will include games, music and circus skills.
Big Bash – Uphill
Uphill Cricket Club will hold a Big Bash. The event will be held at the club’s grounds, in Bridgwater Road, on Sunday from 10am. There will be a cricket tournament, a barbecue, real ales, and live music in the evening.
Family Fun Day – Milton
Worle Lions Club’s family fun day will be at Milton’s recreation ground in Baytree Road on Monday. It will run from noon to 4pm and there will be stalls, games, arena events, a barbecue, cream tea and more. To book a pitch, call 08458 339862.
Concert – Axbridge
There will be two concerts at the town’s St John The Baptist Church, in The Square, this weekend. The Bristol Brass Concert will play at 7.30pm on Sunday and there will be a lunchtime concert at 12.30pm on Monday.
Avon Owls open day – Banwell
The charity, in Whitley Head, will hold its open day on Monday at 10am.
Charity football match – Cheddar
The Cheddar Ladies will play Draycott Ladies in a charity football match for Breast Cancer Care. Kick off will be at 7pm at the football club in Draycott Road. It will be followed by a disco and raffle.
Open day – Congresbury
The North Somerset Bird Of Prey Centre, in Smallway, will host an open day on Sunday from 10.30am-4.30pm.
Annual show – Cross
The Crook Peak Gardening Club will host its annual show at the memorial hall, in Webbington Road, at 2.45pm on Saturday.
Mendip Mower Racing – Cross
The Mendip Mower Racing and Family Festival will run from today (Friday) until Monday. The event will take place off Old Coach Road and will be open all day. For details, click here.
Skittles – Draycott
The Strawberry Special, in Station Road, is holding its end-of-summer skittles event at 4pm on Sunday. There will be live music, a barbecue and face-painting.
Harvest Home – East Brent
The harvest home will be held today (Friday). The event is celebrating is 160th anniversary and there will be free entry and entertainment from 3.30pm into the evening.
Exhibition – Highbridge
Burnham and District Railway Club will host an exhibition at King Alfred School, in Burnham Road, on Saturday and Sunday. It opens from 10.30am-4.30pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. Entry costs £4.
Summer fete – Loxton
The fete will be held at Westhill House in Weston Road at 2pm on Saturday. Strawberry cream teas, craft stalls, a baking contest and tug-of-war will feature, along with family games and a scarecrow competition.
Rumble In The Jumble – Axbridge
The town’s annual jumble event will run from 10am-4pm on Saturday. People can pick up a map from The Almshouse or The Oakhouse, both in The Square, on Friday or from stallholders on the day.
Fairy Festival – Bournville
The event will be held in Coniston Green on Saturday and will run from 1-5pm. There will be music, craft workshops, cake sales and a fairy king and queen. All proceeds will go to the Wanted Not Wasted Group.
Summer craft fair – Weston
Head down to Victoria Methodist Church, in Station Road, where there will be a summer craft fair in support of Weston General Hospital’s scanner appeal. The event, which is also taking place on Saturday, will run from noon to 5pm. There will be a variety of handmade pieces on sale and entry is free.
