Weston’s pop-up amusement park returns this weekend for its longest stint in the town so far, offering a wider range of rides than ever before.

Funland At The Tropicana opens for the summer on Saturday, featuring a pirate ship ride, a new rollercoaster, and better value for thrill seekers.

The amusement park, which debuted in Weston in 2016 and has drawn big crowds to the former lido, will be open until September 2, making for its longest stint yet due to the absence of the Hazy Days music festival.

Funland organiser James Rogers told the Mercury he is ‘very excited’ for the return to the Trop, in Marine Parade.

He said: “For the first time we are running all season long until the end of the summer holidays.

“We have a new rollercoaster this year, built and delivered especially for Funland. We also have a giant pirate ship ride that is a first for Weston.”

The park will be closed from Monday to Friday in term time, and open from 10am-8pm on weekends and in the school holidays.

And Mr Rogers, who also runs the Pirate Adventure mini golf course and the Sky View wheel on the Beach Lawns, believes Funland will offer great value to revellers.

He said: “The biggest thing to shout about this year though is our unlimited rides wristbands.

“The wristbands give customers 10 hours of unlimited fun all for one price – people under 1m can get one for £7.99, and it’s £14.99 for people taller than 1m.”

The Mercury has teamed up with Funland At The Tropicana to offer five lucky readers the chance to win a one-day unlimited-ride family pass for the amusement park on a day of your choice.
