Blood stocks have been depleted by bad weather across the UK

AN URGENT appeal has gone out for people to get into the festive spirit of giving as the bad weather hit supplies of blood donations.

NHS Blood and Transport (NHSBT) are appealing after adverse weather caused lots of donor sessions to be cancelled, leaving stores depleted.

Donors with type O Negative blood especially are being urged to come forward after stocks fell to below acceptable levels.

First time donors should be aged between 17 and 65, weigh at least 50kg (7 stone 12lbs) and be in general good health.

If you are interesting in donating blood, visit or phone 0300 123 23 23.
