Woman’s late night train ride ordeal

PUBLISHED: 12:55 03 December 2010

A YOUNG woman was left feeling ‘extremely frightened’ after a man repeatedly tried to kiss her while on a train heading to Weston.

Police are calling for help to identify a man who left the Bristol Temple Meads to Exeter train at Weston late at night on November 12.

It comes after a 21-year-old woman claimed he sat by her, repeatedly tried to kiss her and would not let her move away from her seat.

Detective Constable Richard Day said: “The victim was travelling alone and boarded the train at Bristol Temple Meads railway station.

“A short while later a man sat next to her and began putting his arm around her and repeatedly trying to kiss her.

“The victim tried to push the man away but was unable to do so as she was sitting by the window and the man was blocking her path to the aisle.

“This was an unpleasant incident which left the victim feeling extremely frightened and vulnerable. It’s vital that we find the man responsible immediately.”

Officers have released the appeal after viewing CCTV footage from the train, which left Bristol Temple Meads at 10.19pm.

Anyone who can help identify the man should call British Transport Police on 0800 405040.
