A Worle woman has pledged to help charitable causes by becoming Miss Bristol.

Leona Pritchard is a finalist for the beauty pageant alongside five other people, with the winner becoming a semi-finalist for Miss England.

The 23-year-old, who works at Weston General Hospital as a nursing assistant, is raising funds for Weston Hospicecare through raffles and cake sales.

She said: “If I become Miss Bristol, I will hold the title for one year, and I want to make the most of it.

“I want people to see this as more than just a beauty pageant, it is an opportunity to take part in charity events and other volunteer causes.

“I will raise money for Beauty With a Purpose, which provides humanitarian projects across the globe for children, and I aim to climb Mt Snowdon in July.”

To vote for Leona, text MISS BRISTOL09 to 63333 before May 6. Texts cost 50p.
