More than £10,000 has been donated to a cancer charity in memory of a girl from Worle.

A ball and golf day have raised £13,500 for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, in memory of 11-year-old Mary Collard.

Mary was a keen golfer, and her family and friends have held regular events in her memory since she died in 2012.

A ball and treasure hunt, organised by Neil Urch from Mayfair, brought in £5,000, and a golf day, which was held at Worlebury Golf Club, raised an additional £8,500.

More than 160 people played golf and enjoyed some refreshments and entertainment.

Mary’s mum Sue, who has helped to raise more than £300,000 for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, said: “The golf day was another success for Mary.

“Staff at the club game up their time to help, and everyone had a great time.

“Thank you to everyone who came along, and also a special thank you to family and friends who helped on the day.”
