The bird survey will start on Christmas Eve.

A bird counting exercise will be carried out over the festive season to keep abreast of local populations.

Every Christmas time Yatton and Congresbury Wildlife Action Group (YACWAG) runs a bird survey.

People living in those villages are asked to keep a tally of the birds they see in their gardens between Christmas Eve and January 2.

It will be the 12th time YACWAG has run the survey.

YACWAG secretary Win Lowman said: “You don’t have to be a member to take part.

“Survey forms are available on the YACWAG website, at Yatton and Congresbury libraries or from me at or on 01934 833596.

“The closing date for return of surveys is January 10 and those returned will be entered into a prize draw.

“The results of the survey will be sent to entrants and posted on the YACWAG website and in the Mercury.”
