Yatton children’s centre will reopen at the village’s remodelled library next week.

North Somerset Council has spent four months making changes to the High Street library to accommodate children’s services.

The facility for preschool youngsters had been based at the infant school around the corner, but the council has moved it into the library following a review of community services.

The new-look library will open at 9.30am on Tuesday, while the children’s centre hours will be 9am-3.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the library’s regular hours will run from 9.30am-5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9.30am-1pm Saturday, and 10am on the first Tuesday of the month.

A council spokesman said: “The library’s opening hours will be extended later this year when a self-service swipe card system is introduced giving users greater access in the evenings and at weekends.”

Yatton Parish Council’s office will return to the library, however staff will remain at Hangstones Pavilion until September.
