Yatton Parish Council wishes to see a housing scheme for the old Titan Ladders’ site reduced in size.

The old factory in Mendip Road faces demolition, if Westbury-on-Trym-based firm Yatton Developments Ltd’s plan is approved by North Somerset Council.

The application shows Yatton Developments wants to build 30 three or four-bedroom houses and nine two-bed flats.

Yatton Parish Council voted in favour of supporting the scheme as it is a brownfield site but believes 39 homes is too many.

In its report to North Somerset, it said: “The density of housing and the height of some dwellings was considered to be too high and the council would prefer to see a smaller number of dwellings which are of a more imaginative design.

“The provision of flats is welcome though concern was raised about the number of parking spaces allocated and the very bland rather drab design of the block.”
