The Craft and Sewing Group hosted a fun-family session at the library as youngsters were challenged to create saddle cloths for elephants and outfits for peg dolls.

The craft event attracted a dozen children aged three to 13 during half-term.

Group member Sue Bathe said: “Many children love crafts and making items, but a lot of half term activities focus on sport.

“We have a variety of crafts suitable for all ages and they usually make three items they can take home.”

The group hopes hosting events in the library will convince Somerset County Council of the importance of its ‘community hub’, with the building’s future under review.

Sue added: “What is so good is we can meet in the centre without paying for the room, so the group is easy to run and it serves a great purpose in providing a forum to share our love of creativity while also providing company.”
