St Andrews start their competitive indoor season on Sunday with a national mixed Top Club match against Clevedon.
The two clubs have been drawn together in other national competitions this year, so the five-discipline Top Club game will set down a marker for them.
Saints will be without several of their top players because of holidays and non-availability. Tim Wyatt, Graham Millard and Jean Whittaker will all be making their Top Club debuts for them.
A trial on Sunday resulted in a narrow victory for the A team, with the comeback from 8-3 down to win 10-9 by Sue Sinclair and Barrie Forse in the mixed pairs proving decisive.
Saints’ players Craig Walker, Anthony Page, Si Angove and Jack Angove all played in a trial for the Somerset Liberty Trophy team on Saturday. Lee and Sam Stocker missed the trial through holiday.
