Uphill Badminton Club’s clubperson of the year was awarded to Anna Bickell, an easy choice according to the coaches.

Uphill Junior Badminton Club is one of the largest in the South West, with more than 80 junior players on the books.

It only runs due to all the volunteer help given by both adult members and coaches, along with older juniors players.

The Poole Trophy is the most prestigious junior club trophy awarded every year.

It is for the best clubperson of the year. This is not just playing, but helping with the juniors and attitude.

This year’s winner was Anna Bickell, who was a popular winner and was an easy decision for the coaches to make.

Polite, well mannered, helpful, fair and one of the nicest the junior club has ever produced. An absolute pleasure to deal with and has been a huge asset to the junior club for many years now.

Anna has attended senior club nights virtually every week over the season. Similarly nearly every Saturday for three hours every week, two helping coach the younger ones and playing her own session.

Not only this, she has given up several Sundays voluntarily to help score junior Under-10 and 12 matches.

In this year’s senior league C team, she has been number one lady and won all but one match, leading the team to win the league and promotion from their division.
