Weston runners dominate at Burnham

Weston Athletic Club dominated the Burnham 5k with six runners in the top 10.

With over a third of the races field sporting the distinctive yellow vests, Weston Athletic Club dominated the field at last week’s Burnham 5k winter road race. And it wasn’t just quantity either, with six top 10 finishers and three top three placings.

Chris McMillan was the overall race winner in 15.48. Kieron Summers took third place overall, and won his age category with his 16.44 finish, while Will Fuller took third club spot in 17.45.

Michelle Fryer was second female overall with a 20.44 finish. Second and third club females were Jo Coveney in 21.46 and Charlotte Fuller in 22.24 with a new personal best time.

The race also proved profitable for James Bertenshaw, Allan Fuller, John Davidson, Dave Johnson, Rachel Fuller and Julia Withers, who all achieved new personal best times for the distance - particularly impressive for Julia who was still recovering from running Snowdonia marathon only a few days earlier.

For anyone wanting to run Weston Athletic Club’s biggest race of the year, the Christmas Cracker 10k, places are almost sold-out. This year’s race takes place on December 9 and runners can enter online at www.westonac.co.uk/christmascracker The main race, at 11am, is preceded by a shorter 2k race for junior runners.
