Uphill Castle crashed away at league leaders Chard, going down by 108 runs.

Uphill Castle travelled to league leaders Chard and came away with an 108-run defeat.

Uphill bowled first and George Cox got an early breakthrough bowling the Chard opening batsman.

The home side got back into the game putting on more than 100 for the second wicket, but after the drinks break, Uphill got back into the game with two wickets apiece for Marcus Bail, Dayne Siede and Cox and a wicket apiece for Andy Brooks and Kieran Ward as Chard were all out for 221 in the last over and maximum bowling points.

George Chapman (9) and Siede (18) got off to a positive start with 32 on the board, but once they departed Castle’s batting crumbled again with only captain Andy Llewellyn showing any resistance. When he departed for 42, the innings ended on 113 all out.

A disappointing defeat, but having played the top three teams the next run of fixtures gives a chance to get the first win starting Saturday and a home game against North Petherton.

Autosmart man of match was Andy Llewellyn.
