Belvedere batsman Neil Chadwick passed 10,000 runs for the club in a comfortable victory over Upill Castle 2nd XI.

Belvedere entertained old friends Uphill Castle 2nd XI at Priory, emerging comfortable eight wicket victors to make it four wins out of four.

Uphill batted first and soon lost Worrell caught behind by Pete Hooper off the bowling of Sam Mccrea. Mark Hodder (23) and Gareth Williams (25) batted steadily to bring the score to 59-1 before the quick loss of both and Tom Oultram saw Uphill slip to 60-4, wickets falling to Jack Neville and Nilanjan Chatterjee.

Frost and Patch briefly threatened before an outstanding one handed catch from CJ Neate accounted for Patch and Frost soon followed to leave Uphill struggling at 87-6.

Veterans Dave Bickell (23) and Ray Dibben (11) batted watchfully until the returning Mccrea bowled Dibben, quickly followed by Jacob Matthews without scoring.

The innings went downhill as Neil Chadwick accounted for Ewen Kennedy and Kevin Crockett dismissed Bickell to see Uphill dismissed for 116 in the 38th over.

Wickets fell to Mccrea (9-3-13-3), Neville (9-1-30-3), Chatterjee (9-1-30-2), Crockett (3.3-0-9-1) and Chadwick (1-1-0-1).

In reply, Crockett and Sam Neate gave Belvedere an excellent start until Crockett was dismissed by Matthews for 16 with the score on 26. Any hopes of further quick breakthroughs were ended by Neate and Chadwick, who batted with ease punishing any loose delivery bringing up the 50 in only the 11th over, until Williams drew a false stroke from Neate to be dismissed for 39.

Chadwick (57 not out) continued his fine form as he and Mccrea (6 not out) saw their side to victory with 21 overs remaining.

For Uphill wicket takers were Matthews (8-0-52-1) and Williams (6-0-19-1).

All Stars Sports Bar man of the match was Neil Chadwick.

Belvedere celebrated Neil Chadwick reaching 10,000 runs for the club with a champagne presentation before their victory over Uphill Castle.
