Winscombe cricketer Tom Hall has reached his monetary target to be able to tour Sri Lanka with Somerset Under-15s.

Talented local Winscombe cricketer, Tom Hall, has achieved his monetary target of raising £2,000 to tour and play cricket in Sri Lanka next month with Somerset Under-15s.

Winscombe Cricket Club playing chairman, Peter Searle, pictured with Tom, said: “Tom has been one of our stand-out young players since he first joined Winscombe in 2008.

“In that time, we have seen him progress through our youth coaching structure and represent the club at all levels. We are delighted that he has been selected for not only the Somerset County side again this season, but also gained a place on the Somerset Emerging Player Programme and that we are able to help by sponsoring him on the tour to Sri Lanka.”

Sponsorship from the cricket club was the final piece in the jigsaw for Tom to secure funding for the tour and Tom would like to thank everyone who has helped him.

Tom said: “I can’t believe the support I has been given, I am only a local lad who just enjoys playing cricket and for everyone to support me not only financially, but with words of encouragement has been unbelievable.”

In securing the funds for the tour,Tom would like to particularly thank: Bristol Oilskin & Overall Co. Ltd; Simon Shapland at Abbott & Co (Wessex) Ltd; Winscombe Cricket Club; Mendip Spring Golf Club; Waitrose of Weston for allowing the players to raise funds through bag packing; Woodborough Public House and their loyal clientele who have purchased raffle tickets in aid of supporting the tour and everyone that has purchased raffle tickets. Also to two donations, where individuals would like to remain anonymous.
