Uphill Castle moved up to second spot in the league after beating Wellington by four wickets.
UPHILL Castle defeated Wellington in an excellent match by four wickets and moved up to second place in the league.
Winning the toss on a hot day, Wellington decided to bat on a hard strip. Uphill got off to a good start when Ty Watson bowled Short and Krish Kumar took a caught and bowled do dismiss Sparks.
The run rate was high, so Cattermole and Markkus Bail were introduced into the attack with Bail promptly bowling Campbell and Cattermole trapping Brockley lbw, leaving Wellington on 45-4.
Wellington did not roll over as Moysey and Capaldi knuckled down and put together a partnership, bringing Wellington back into the game. Uphill only managed two more wickets as the visitors made the respectable score of 239-6, with a wicket each for Williams and Bail.
Uphill got off to a flying start with Seb Winn and Andre Belcher putting on 82 for the first wicket before Belcher was stumped for 40. Watson (36) carried on the good work before dragging one on.
Winn was next to fall for 64 and Uphill had a scare when last week’s run scorer Dave Millard fell first ball. A beligerent 28 from Kumar took Uphill close, before the match was seen home in the 48th over by Bail (15 not out) and Luke Bliss (16 not out).
The Autosmart man of the match was Seb Winn.

THE 2nd XI travelled to Wincanton on a hot sunny day and after winning the toss, elected to bat first.
There was another steady start from Mark Hodder (39) and Steve Worrall, who carried his bat through the innings scoring 62 not out, put on 78 for the first wicket.
Tom Oultram (16) and Matt Kearsey (34) were the only other players to get in double figures as Castle ended the innings on 203-7.
Wincanton started their innings slowly before an early wicket for Pete Jobling (1-23) got Uphill off to the perfect start, helped by Miro (1-46), Kearsey (2-59), but steady middle order batting got Wincanton into a match-winning position.
The introduction of young Sam Matthews, whose pace made life difficult for the Wincanton batsman, ended up with figures of 4-38 from 11 overs and Wincanton were all out for 187, resulting in a 16-run victory for Castle and maximum points.
Autosmart man of the match was Sam Matthews.
