Uphill Badminton Club A team blew away rivals Wyvern A 9-0 in their latest league match.

Uphill Badminton Club had just the one match this week with the A team taking on local rivals Wyvern A in Division 1.

The team of Paul Edwards, Izzy Lewis, Matt Cole, Christy Cole, Mark Edwards (captain) and Becky Halfpenny all played well achieving a 9-0 victory.

The mixed were all won in two games with Paul and Izzy having tbe closest scores 21-15, 21-19.

In the men’s, Paul, Matt and Mark were on top form winning all three rubbers with a highest game score of 21-15.

The ladies were a far closer affair. Izzy and Christy teamed up well to win 21-18, 21-19. They both then partnered Becky in two three-set wins with some great rallies in each.

This result puts Uphill up to second and hot on the heels of league leaders Chew Valley.

Uphill is a club which encourages new players of all ages, fitness levels and abilities. The club runs from 8-10pm every Tuesday and Thursday. The cost of each two-hour session is £3.50 and there is no obligation or commitment.

Each session is lighthearted and involves both coaching and games. The aim of the club is to get more people playing the sport, whether it is socially or competitively.
