Uphill Badminton Club’s B team recorded their first victory of the season at the fourth attempt.

Uphill Badminton Club’s B team got their first win on the board at the fourth attempt with a solid home display against Chew Valley B.

The team of Emily Page-Symonds, Rebecca Falwasser, Caroline Higgins, Billy Fear, Rob Morray and Tom Miller all played well.

Uphill took two of the three mixed with Emily and Billy and Caroline and Tom both winning in two games. The ladies were on fine form winning all six games to scores under 13.

The men’s were well fought with Billy and Rob picking up a good win, but then each going down with Tom in two very close rubbers.

The final score being 6-3 to Uphill with Emily and Caroline both winning all their three rubbers.

A well-matched contest saw Uphill men’s take on Wells City for the men’s quartet of Dennis Tsang, Tony Wilsher, Day Bill Ponting and Ben Moore.

The match started well with two solid wins for Dennis and Tony and Bill and Ben (in 3 games). The next two were shared with Dennis and Bill losing out, but Ben being victorious with Tony.

The last two were again shared with Ben and Dennis cruising to a win before Bill and Tony were edged out in a close three-setter. This gave Uphill the victory 4-2 and their first win of the season.
