Cheddar Football Club celebrated their 125th anniversary in style when they were visited by former Arsenal and England legend Ray Parlour, who delighted a packed clubhouse approaching 100 with his engaging and humorous stores of his sparkling football career.

Among his many anecdotes, Ray told of his years in Arsene Wenger’s double winning sides of 1997-98 and 2001-02 and his times with Kevin Keegan and Glenn Hoddle, and at times had the audience roaring with laughter of his tales of teammates Martin Keown and Dennis Bergkamp.

Parlour was joined on the evening by top comedian Bob Webb, who used his extensive professional repertoire to keep everyone entertained.

The club were extremely grateful to receive donations of a number quality auction and raffle prizes from local businesses which were received from Taunton racecourse, the Webbington Hotel and Spa and the Bath Arms Hotel, among many others, which were put to good use in raising funds for the club during the evening.

The club were particularly grateful to Colin Erison, managing director of CE Shopfitting (Bromsgrove), for all his amazing help in the sponsorship of the event, together with The Lockerz, who have recorded the World Cup 2018 charity song They Think It’s All Over.
