Team Mendip continued their winning streak in the South West Women’s League with a convincing win.

Mendip started slowly and Cheltenham capitalised on poor defending from their first corner, Samantha Gifford heading home unopposed.

The goal spurred Mendip into action and the passing and movement improved resulting in the equaliser, a quality finish from Ellie Orritt. Mendip took the lead through Ellie Roberts after a run and cross from Steph Goddard.

Mendip now took control of the game resulting in one more each for Orritt and Roberts.

Cheltenham’s leading scorer Gemma Riley had no joy against a well-organised centre-back pairing of Tina Delany and Amy Clark.

Midway through the second half, Tash Crew made it five after her shot was saved by the keeper, but Crew’s quick reactions enabled her to get to the rebound first to tap in from close range.

PD & CL Building services girl of the game was Amy Clark.
