Team Mendip Ladies secured a narrow victory over third-placed Swindon Town Development.

Swindon, currently third in the South West Women’s League, started on the front foot and Mendip were finding it difficult to mount a meaningful attack.

The Mendip back line of Sam Crew, Tina Delany, Amy Clark and Karmisha Wilson were well marshalled by keeper Amanda Hubbard, who was in fine form.

Gradually the Mendip midfield got a hold in the game and finished the half strongly with Ellie Orritt making several strong runs.

From the start of the second half, Mendip took control of the game and made good use of their substitutes.

A through ball found Ellie Roberts under pressure from both Swindon centre-backs, but she managed to stretch out a leg and guide the ball into the far corner.

Swindon continued to battle and took the game to Mendip, but PD&CL Building Services girl of the game, keeper Amanda Hubbard, managed to keep a clean sheet and Mendip’s victory showed further signs of their improvement this season.
