Somerset Schools Cup success for Hugh Sexey’s

Hugh Sexey’s Under-12 girls’ football team triumphed in the final of the Somerset School Cup final.

Hugh Sexey’s Under-12 girls’ football team played in the Somerset Schools Cup final against Crispin at Street and ran out 6-0 winners.

For the first 15 minutes both teams had opportunities to score, with the Hugh Sexey back three of Evie Jones, Evie Clements and Grace Adams solid all afternoon, protecting keeper Millie Thomas, who was excellent.

Midfield trio Harriet Griffiths, Millie Pargeter and skipper Daisy Moss were outstanding, playing some fantastic passing football which provided strikers Jessie Woodcock and Izzy Cook all the opportunities they needed to score.

Replacement Jemima Thurling came on the pitch and scored, followed by Philippa Griffiths and Emilie Peake who continued the great work the team were doing.

The whole squad was fantastic, a true team effort which saw Hugh Sexey’s win, Izzy Cook and Jemima Thurling both scoring hat-tricks.

Coaches Mr Waterfield and Mr Lamb from Hugh Sexey’s were very pleased with how the girls have played all season and said: “The team totally deserve their success, this is the first year Hugh Sexey’s has won the cup. We have been in the final before but never actually won it.”
