Team Mendip Ladies enjoyed a drawn game against Welsh touring side Troedyrhiw.

TEAM Mendip Ladies hosted a friendly match for a Welsh team on tour at Worle Rec.

Troedyrhiw had won the league and cup back in Wales without losing a game at Under-16 level and were now touring to gain experience ready to start the new season as a ladies’ team.

Mendip put together a team of 16-year-olds with a sprinkle of older players to help the Welsh team get to grips with the adult game.

The spirit of the game was excellent with Mendip embracing the fact the Welsh were playing to learn and develop.

Troedyrhiw went 1-0 up early on, but Mendip levelled before half-time from a corner headed in by Ellie Orritt.

The second half saw more of the same from both teams, with Troedyrhiw going 2-1 up from a mix-up in the Mendip defence

Ash Richards levelled the scores 2-2 in the last few minutes of the game by sprinting onto a pass from midfielder Nicole Flourentzou and slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Team Mendip Headlines player of the match went to Ellie Drew.
